Adelaide Street Field | Illinois State University Athletics
Illinois State University's soccer team lost 1-0 to Loyola Chicago on Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Street Field. The defeat ended the Redbirds' run of three consecutive shutout wins, which was the longest such streak under head coach Raleigh DeRose in her second year leading the program.
The first half saw both teams unable to score, with Illinois State taking three shots and Loyola five. Redshirt sophomore Madi Valenti played a key role in keeping the game level by making four saves during the opening period. This matched her season-high for saves in a half and marked the third time she has achieved four saves in an opening half this season.
Loyola scored the only goal of the match in the 73rd minute after capitalizing on a rebound. Despite efforts from Illinois State to equalize, they were unable to find a goal before time expired.
