Village of Gridley Village Board met Aug. 4.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Jeff Benedict opened with a word of prayer. 

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Richard Martin, Beth Steidinger, Kevin Krones, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum present. Employee Mark Peterson was also present. 

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the July meeting minutes. There were none. Jay made a motion to approve the minutes and Beth seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried. 

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Mick made a motion to approve the bills and payroll. Kevin seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried. 

Trustees reviewed the Treasurer’s report. After discussion, Michael made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report. Richard seconded. All trustees answered in the affirmative. 

Michael reported that we received a quote from Quality Truck & Equipment Company, Bloomington, Illinois for a WesternUltraMountt2 8’6” MVP3 Snowplow with Halogen Plow lights, Rubber Deflector, Hand-Held Controller and installation for a total of $9,537.25 for the 2025 Ford F250. After discussion, Mick made a motion to approve the purchase. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried. 

Mick reported that we received a quote from Can Do Cleaners of Danvers, Illinois for power washing all the hard surfaces in the Third Street Park. This includes the War Memorial, sidewalks, benches, trash bins, and picnic tables. Total estimate is $1,100. After discussion, Mick made a motion to approve the quote. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried. 

Mick presented a quote from Paul Fey for painting all the picnic tables and park benches at the Third Street Park. Total estimate, including paint, for 13 picnic tables and 2 park benches is $1,800. After discussion, Mick made a motion to approve the quote. Richard seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried. 

Michael presented a quote from Barco Products for 4 – 6’ benches and 6 – 30 gal. trash receptacles for Center Street at a cost of $10,436.10. After discussion, Michael made a motion to approve the quote. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried. 

Michael presented a quote for two parent/child swings with frame for the Third Street Park to be purchased with donated funds. The quote is from GameTime and the cost is $7,720.12. This cost does not include installation. After discussion, Michael made a motion to purchase the two swings and frame. Jay seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried. 

Jeff reported that the pool bid letting only received one bid and it was well over the cost estimated by the engineers. Mick made a motion to reject the bid and to proceed with re-bidding at a later date. Kevin seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Krones-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried. 

Amanda Harris of 211 W. 6th St. attended the meeting to ask the board to consider allowing her to cut a tree down on the McLean Street side of her property to allow for better parking. Board will consider at September board meeting. 

Patty Fye thanked the village employees for trimming back bushes in the alley behind her mother’s home. 

Jay made a motion to adjourn. Beth seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Martin-yea, Steidinger-yea, Kronesyea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. Motion carried.
