The Illinois State women's golf team improved its standing on the final day of the 2025 Redbird Invitational, moving up two places to finish in a tie for sixth at Weibring Golf Club. The event took place over Sunday and Monday.
Illinois State posted a team score of 299 in the last round, which was the third-lowest of the day. This performance brought their total to 903 for the tournament, matching South Dakota State. The Redbirds had been in eighth place after two rounds with a combined score of 604.
Eastern Kentucky won the team title with a total score of 879, narrowly beating South Dakota by one stroke. Butler finished third at 897, followed by Bowling Green (899) and Northern Illinois (901). Other teams in the field included Drake, Evansville, Illinois Wesleyan, Loyola-Chicago, Dayton, Indiana State, Northern Iowa, IU Indy, and Valparaiso.
Junior Reagan Kennedy led Illinois State’s charge on Monday with a career-best round of even-par 72. She recorded five birdies and nine pars during her round and finished tied for 23rd individually with a three-round total of 227.
Elise Fennell was Illinois State's top individual performer. She tied for fifth overall after shooting a final-round 75 that included two birdies and eleven pars. Her tournament total was 220 over three rounds.
Dani Grace Schrock also contributed with a final-round 75 featuring one birdie and thirteen pars. She tied for tenth place overall with a cumulative score of 223. Alex Sparrow shot a five-over-par 77 in her last round and ended tied for 42nd at 233.
The Redbirds will return to competition next weekend when they travel to Toledo, Ohio for the Inverness Intercollegiate at Inverness Club starting Monday, September 15.
