Redbird freshman Rylann Law has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Freshman of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference office on September 9, 2025.
Law scored two goals in last Thursday's match against IU-Indy, leading Illinois State to a 2-0 win. This victory marked the team's third consecutive shutout, which is their longest streak since 2019. Law’s performance was notable as it was the first time a freshman Redbird recorded a brace since Hannah Mueller achieved the same in 2018 against Western Illinois.
Additionally, Law is the first Illinois State player since Kelsie McLaughlin in 2022 to score in back-to-back games. With four goals this season, she currently leads all MVC freshmen and ranks third among all players in the conference for goals scored.
