Illinois Wesleyan University's men's soccer team will continue its non-conference schedule with an away game against Blackburn College on Wednesday, September 10. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Blackburn Soccer Fields in Carlinville, Illinois.
The Titans enter the contest with a 2-0-1 record after securing a 2-2 draw against Knox College on Saturday, September 6. The team has yet to play a home game this season.
Sophomore Ben Lyons has been leading the offense for Illinois Wesleyan, topping the team in both points (7) and goals (3). Lyons has equaled his career-high in goals and is one point away from matching his total points from last year after just three matches.
Senior goalkeeper Sam Kedzior has made eight saves so far this season and holds a .667 save percentage.
Blackburn College comes into its home opener riding a three-game winning streak and holds a 3-1-0 record. Sophomore midfielder Grant Eugea leads the Beavers with seven points from three goals and one assist.
Historically, Illinois Wesleyan has led the series between the two teams with a 13-3 advantage. Last season, Illinois Wesleyan defeated Blackburn 5-0, highlighted by two goals each from Logan Tierney and Faheem Majahid. That match marked their first meeting since 2003.
