Illinois State and Eastern Illinois played to a scoreless draw Thursday evening at Adelaide Street Field. This result is the first tie in the 17 meetings between the two programs, with Illinois State holding an 11-5-1 record in the series.

The Redbirds started strong, as freshman Rylann Law forced a save from the Eastern Illinois goalkeeper in the fifth minute. Throughout the first half, Illinois State maintained offensive pressure and outshot Eastern Illinois 6-1. Despite this advantage, both teams entered halftime without a goal.

In the second half, Illinois State continued to create more opportunities, outshooting Eastern Illinois 10-2. The Redbirds had three shots that hit the woodwork but were unable to convert any into goals.

With 16 total shots in this match, Illinois State has now attempted at least 16 shots in four of its last five games. Over these five games, they have taken 83 shots—their highest total for such a stretch since the 2020-21 season. The team’s shot advantage of 13 was their second-largest margin this season and ties for second-most under head coach Raleigh DeRose.

Illinois State will next play against Saint Louis on Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff and will be streamed on ESPN+.
