Crabtree sets school record as Illinois Wesleyan competes at Redbird Invitational

Senior runner Crabtree secured her third career win at the Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State University on September 12. Competing in a field dominated by Division I teams, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's cross country team finished sixth, while the women's team placed fifth.

Crabtree won the women's 6k race with a time of 21:32.3, setting a new school record and surpassing Erin McCarey's previous mark of 21:35.0. She finished 10 seconds ahead of Nora Brady from Illinois State and nearly a minute faster than Haley Meyer of Wartburg, the closest Division III competitor.

Freshman from Spring Grove finished 35th in her first collegiate 6k race for the Titans. Seniors from Batavia and Chicago followed in 51st and 52nd place, respectively.

On the men's side, senior from Mount Vernon was the top finisher for Illinois Wesleyan at 53rd place. Another senior from Lake Barrington took 57th. Sophomore from Mt. Zion recorded his personal best in the 8k event with a time of 27:19.7, finishing in 60th place.

The Titans are scheduled to compete next at the Spartanburg Pre-National Meet hosted by Converse in Spartanburg, South Carolina on September 20.
