Illinois State University’s football team, the Redbirds, has held its position at No. 4 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll following a recent 42-30 victory over Eastern Illinois. This marks their highest Top 5 ranking since 2015, when they reached as high as No. 2 nationally. In addition to the coaches poll, Illinois State moved up one spot to No. 6 in this week's Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll.

The Redbirds are part of a strong Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) showing in the national rankings for a second consecutive week, with seven MVFC teams included. North Dakota State remains atop the Coaches Poll with 25 first-place votes, followed by South Dakota State and Illinois State at fourth. Other ranked MVFC teams include Southern Illinois (No. 11), North Dakota (No. 17), South Dakota (No. 21), and Youngstown State (No. 24).

Illinois State is scheduled to play North Alabama on Saturday at Jay and Lori Bergman Field at Hancock Stadium, with kickoff set for noon during Family Day events.
