Illinois State University's cross country program saw two of its athletes recognized as Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Runners of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference on Monday.

Nora Brady and Cayde de Waal each earned their first MVC Weekly Honor following strong performances at the Redbird Invite held at Weibring Golf Club on September 12.

Brady finished second in the women's 6,000-meter race with a time of 21:42.20. This result moved her to 36th place all-time in the 6k records for Weibring Golf Course and contributed to Illinois State's women securing their third consecutive Redbird Invite title. It was also Brady’s second top-10 finish this season after placing sixth at the Fighting Illini Invitational on August 29.

In his debut for Illinois State, de Waal placed fifth in the men's 8,000-meter event with a time of 24:44.6. De Waal joined Illinois State after competing for Indian Hills Community College, where he qualified for nationals in four events—800m, 1k, mile, and 3k—during the previous season.

Illinois State is scheduled to compete next at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri, on Friday, September 26. The meet will begin at 8:15 a.m. at Gans Creek Cross Country Course.

"Nora Brady and Cayde de Waal have been named the Missouri Valley Conference Runners of the Week," according to Monday's conference announcement.
