Illinois State women’s golf finishes first day at Inverness Intercollegiate in twelfth place

The Illinois State women's golf team ended the opening day of the Inverness Intercollegiate in 12th place. The tournament, hosted by the University of Toledo, features a competitive field and a challenging course.

After two rounds, Illinois State trails behind teams such as Florida, Princeton, and Ohio State. Florida leads with a score of 597, followed by Princeton at 599 and Ohio State at 605. Other teams ahead include NC State, TCU, Middle Tennessee, Florida Gulf Coast, Notre Dame, South Alabama, Coastal Carolina, and Toledo.

Elise Fennell led the Redbirds on the first day. She finished with rounds of 77 and 83 for a two-round total of 160 and is tied for 47th place. Fennell recorded a birdie in each round along with 16 pars throughout the day.

Sophomore Alex Sparrow completed her rounds with a total score of 162. She made one birdie and finished with 19 pars to tie for 54th place. Reagan Kennedy posted a score of 164 while Dani Grace Schrock finished at 168; they are tied for 57th and 62nd places respectively.

Illinois State will tee off alongside Coastal Carolina and Toledo for the final round starting at 7:30 a.m. (CT) on the back nine.
