Illinois Wesleyan University senior has received national recognition after being named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement on Monday, September 15. This marks the first time in school history that a Titan has earned this national cross country honor.
Crabtree achieved this distinction by winning the Redbird Invite held on Friday, September 12 at Illinois State University. She completed the 6k race with a time of 12:32.3, finishing ten seconds ahead of runner-up Nora Brady from ISU and more than a minute ahead of the nearest Division III competitor. Crabtree's performance set a new school record, surpassing the previous mark established by Erin McCarey in 2015.
The Illinois Wesleyan Titans women's cross country team will compete next at the Spartanburg Pre-National Meet in Spartansburg, South Carolina, hosted by Converse on Saturday, September 20.
"I am honored to be recognized as National Athlete of the Week," Crabtree said following her win.
