Elise Fennell led the Illinois State Redbirds women's golf team on the final day of the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio, by shooting a 69, which was tied for the lowest score of the round. Fennell's performance included three birdies and one bogey on her first nine holes, followed by nine consecutive pars to close out her round. This score marks her fourth-lowest collegiate round and is just one stroke higher than her career-best 68.
Fennell finished with a three-round total of 229, tying for the 24th-lowest individual score in the tournament field. Other Redbird competitors included Alex Sparrow, who tied for 56th place with a total score of 243 after an 81 in the final round; Reagan Kennedy, who tied for 58th at 244 following an 80; and Dani Grace Schrock, who finished in 61st place with a total of 247 after posting a final-round 79.
Ohio State won the team event with a combined score of 886 over three rounds. Florida (889), Princeton (891), NC State (901), TCU (902), South Alabama (913), Middle Tennessee (917), Florida Gulf Coast (918), Notre Dame (918), Coastal Carolina (926), and Toledo (938) all placed ahead of Illinois State in the standings.
The Redbirds will return to competition at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah hosted by the University of Illinois on October 6 and 7.
