Illinois Wesleyan University's women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Dominican University in a non-conference match held Monday night in Bloomington, Illinois. The Titans now have a record of 4-4-0 for the season, while the Stars improved to 3-3-1.

The game was marked by several scoring chances for Illinois Wesleyan, who led Dominican in total shots (20-16), shots on goal (10-8), and corner kicks (8-3). However, a defensive mistake resulted in the game's only goal during the 59th minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Vanessa Gray made seven saves throughout the match.

Keira Robinson and Sophie Lampert were active defensively for Illinois Wesleyan, with Lampert gaining possession outside the box early in the first half and nearly converting an opportunity that led to a corner kick. Senior Bree Cordray also had a notable attempt saved by a Dominican defender.

Dominican's decisive moment came after Illinois Wesleyan conceded a free kick just outside their penalty area. Mia Dosen scored directly from the set piece, sending her shot through the defensive wall and past Gray.

Illinois Wesleyan pushed forward late in search of an equalizer, generating multiple opportunities including four chances in the final seconds. However, Dominican's defense maintained their lead until time expired.

The Titans will travel to face Knox College on Wednesday, September 24 at 4:30 p.m.
