Illinois Wesleyan University senior women's cross country runner Maddie Crabtree has received her third consecutive College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Runner of the Week award this season, marking the first time a member of the Titans has achieved this distinction. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday, September 23. This is also the fourth weekly honor in Crabtree's collegiate career.
Crabtree continued her unbeaten streak for the season by securing her third victory in as many events at the Spartanburg Pre-National Meet in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Saturday, September 20. Competing at the venue for the upcoming 2025 Division III Cross Country National Championship, she finished with a time of 21:47.6 over six kilometers. In the final stretch of the race, Crabtree pulled ahead of Riley Capuano from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps—who placed in the top 20 at last year’s national championship—and won by nine seconds.
The team will have a weekend off before traveling to Waverly, Iowa, for the Dan Hutson Invite on Saturday, October 4. The meet will be held at Max Cross Country Course, which is also set to host this season's NCAA Midwest Regional Championship.
