The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the Dan Hutson Invite on Saturday, October 4, in Waverly, Iowa. The event is hosted by Wartburg College and will take place at the Max Cross Country Course, which is also scheduled to host the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship later this season. The men's race will start at 10 a.m., followed by the women's race at 10:45 a.m.
Senior runner Crabtree from Normal, Illinois, has secured her third consecutive win for Illinois Wesleyan in their most recent meet. She claimed the Spartanburg Pre-National Meet title on September 20 with a time of 21:47.6. Over three events this season, Crabtree has finished ahead of all 193 competitors she has faced.
The Illinois Wesleyan women's team continues to be ranked as the top College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin team in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings released on September 30. The team moved up to seventh place in the Midwest region, ahead of Wheaton College.
On the men's side, sophomore from Bloomington led his squad at Spartanburg with a time of 27:03.5 in the 8k race. Senior from Lake Barrington followed closely with a time of 27:32.5.
Illinois Wesleyan will compete against thirteen other teams at the Dan Hutson Invite, including Buena Vista, Central, Cornell, Drake, Earlham, Elmhurst, Grinnell, Gustavus Adolphus, Knox, Luther, Northern Iowa, Simpson, and Wartburg.
