The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Interregional Invitational at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois, on Saturday, October 18. The event was hosted by Augustana College and served as a preview for the upcoming College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship.
For the men's team, a senior from Lake Barrington led the Titans with a 25th-place finish, recording a personal-best time of 26:26.8. A sophomore from Bloomington finished 99th with a time of 27:34.2. Other notable finishes included a sophomore from Mt. Zion placing 180th and a senior from Minneapolis coming in at 194th. The men’s team placed 18th out of 32 teams.
On the women’s side, the team finished 37th out of 40 teams. A sophomore from Glen Ellyn led with a time of 24:09.6 to place 172nd, while a freshman from St. Louis set her personal best at 25:50.9.
Six members competed in the Women's Blue 6000M race, with freshmen from Berwyn and Downers Grove achieving personal records—Cantu ran in at 27:07.2 and Grant followed at 27:32.6.
In other competition, senior Crabtree from Normal secured a top-25 finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Friday, October 17. Crabtree placed 21st overall with a time of 21:51.8 against nearly sixty Division I athletes.
Crabtree narrowly missed breaking into the top-20 by three seconds but achieved her third-fastest six-kilometer time this season after advancing twelve places during the race.
The Titans are scheduled to return to Rock Island on November 2 for the CCIW Championships hosted by Augustana College.
