State Representative Dennis Tipsword (R-Metamora) has expressed condolences to former Illinois State Representative and State Senator Darren Bailey and his family following a family tragedy. In a statement, Tipsword said, "My wife Betsy and I, along with our entire family, would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Darren and Cindy Bailey during this incredibly difficult time. Please pray for their family and keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they are confronted with the unimaginable loss of their son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren."

Tipsword was elected as a Republican to the Illinois State House in 2023. He represents the 105th House District, succeeding Dan Brady.
