Illinois State University offensive guard Landon Woodard has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) Offensive Lineman of the Week following his performance in Illinois State's recent win over Northern Iowa.
The MVFC announced on Monday that Woodard was recognized for his role in the Redbirds' 31-16 victory. He joins other weekly honorees: Rashad Rochelle of Indiana State (Offense), DeJuan Lewis of South Dakota (Defense), Nic Yatsko of Indiana State (Newcomer), and Jackson Williams of North Dakota State (Special Teams).
Woodard, a senior from Waukesha, Wisconsin, graded out at 90 percent during the game. His efforts contributed to running back Victor Dawson’s 101 rushing yards and one touchdown. The Redbird offense accumulated 430 total yards, with 202 coming on the ground at an average of 5.8 yards per carry and 228 through the air. The team has scored at least 30 points in six out of nine games this season and surpassed 40 points three times.
Illinois State, currently ranked No. 16 with a record of 6-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play, will travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, to face Indiana State (3-6, 1-4 MVFC) on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Memorial Stadium.
