Tomas Valencia and Adrian Dibildox from Illinois State University began their participation in the ITA Conference Masters Championships on Thursday at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California.
Valencia started with a singles match victory over Alberto Altur of North Alabama, winning 7-5, 6-3 in the Round of 32. He then faced Maxime Dubouch of Memphis in the Round of 16, where he was defeated 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles play later that afternoon, Valencia partnered with Dibildox to compete against Takumi Katsuda and Vincent Vohl from Northern Arizona. The Illinois State pair won the first set 6-2 but dropped the second set 6-1. They secured their place in the next round by taking the third-set tiebreaker 10-7. This result advances them to face Oscar Martinez and Martin Vergara Del Puerto of East Tennessee State in the Round of 16 scheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT.
