Cullom Fire Protection District responded to 24 calls in 2017 - 50 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Cullom included 21 fires - 12 structure fires, one vehicle fire and eight other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $90,000 in fire loss - or about $4,286 per fire.

The department also received two false calls.

The Cullom Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $61,572 in 2017.
