Illinois State baseball player Shai Robinson has been drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 10th round of the 2025 MLB Draft. Robinson was selected as the 299th overall pick, becoming the first Redbird to be chosen in this year's draft.
Under the guidance of sixth-year head coach Steve Holm, Robinson is now the 13th Illinois State player to be selected in the MLB Draft. His selection is noted as the fourth-highest for a Redbird during Coach Holm's tenure. Robinson also joins three other Redbirds who have been picked by the Minnesota Twins, with Brent Headrick being the most recent in 2019.
In his career at Illinois State, Robinson made a notable impact with a career-high 54 starts at shortstop. He achieved personal bests with 10 home runs, 45 RBIs, 48 walks, and an OPS of .869.
