City of Pontiac Public Library Board of Trustees met Nov. 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Pontiac Public Library Board of Trustees met on November 12, 2018. President Connie Snyder called the meeting to order at 5:35pm.

The roll call was answered by Nancy Milhauser, Connie Snyder, Bruce Koerner, Penny Dye, Curt Myers and Kathy McLean. Also present was director, Kristin Holzhauer.

Consent Agenda:

Trustees reviewed the minutes and paid bills from October. Bruce Koerner moved to accept the minutes and bills as presented. Penny Dye seconded. All were in favor, motion carried.

Correspondence: None Director’s Report:

• Volunteer hours total: 20

• 118 parents and children attended the annual Boo-Fest.

• A new Heartland College student has been hired and will begin Nov. 2 working 15 hours per week.

• The annual elevator inspection and back-flow tests have been conducted and results submitted to the appropriate parties at the state level.

• The coin operating machine for the public copier is not working. A new machine may need to be purchased or added to the existing RICOH contract. Other cost-effective options are being explored.

• The Intergovernmental Agreement is going smoothly. Students who are new to the district or missed the first time around are being issued library cards. A competition for most books checked out is being held the first 9 weeks of school. The reporting generated will be shared with the district to show metrics regarding the utilization of library cards.

• The library participated in the downtown Pontiac Jolly Trolley event on November 10th. The library hosted an author from Bloomington who featured their new book at the library and downtown. Story times, crafts, and a letter for Santa table was provided by the library.

• Staff training day will be Nov. 10th. Erica Laughlin from RSA will be providing some updates and training on Workflows accounts. The rest of the day will be spent on technology and staff safety training. The library will be closed on that day.

• DCM Landscaping will provide snow removal for the library this year.

• The 2019 Per Capita and Illinet certification work is being done currently. Per Capita is due 1/15/19 and Illinet is due in early March. Committee Updates:

Building and Grounds – Committee did not meet, but Bruce Koerner suggested setting money aside next year to replace furnaces in the near future.

Management Committee - Nothing to report

Finance Committee – Nothing to report

Old Business: None

New Business:

• The staff Holiday Lunch will be on December 19th.

• The board reviewed chapters 6-8 of the Trustee File Facts and viewed the first half of the Webinar “Developing Inclusive Library Services to Adults with Disabilities”. The remaining chapters and Webinar will be discussed and viewed at the December board meeting. These activities are required according to the Per Capita grant guidelines.

Penny Dye made a motion to adjourn. Bruce Koerner seconded. All were in favor, meeting adjourned at 7:05pm.
