The McLean County Board Finance Committee voted to extend the property tax deadlines this year to June 17 and the second installment to Sept. 17 and also waived interest penalties for 30 days, according to the Pantagraph.
The committee also approved amendments to allow the county's development loan program to loan to small and medium-sized businesses hurt due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Both actions must be approved by the full county board, which is expected to meet on April 21.
The COVID-19 outbreak is taking a toll on McLean County and leaders are considering every angle to keep the economy propped up during these unprecedented times. According to the McLean County Department of Health, there were 79 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and two deaths within McLean County as of April 13.
