Illinois Wesleyan University Athletics issued the following announcement on Jan. 11
Game Day & COVID-19 Safety Protocol:
In order to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and spectators, the following protocols are being implemented effective Jan. 12, 2022. These policies pertain to all Illinois Wesleyan athletic home contests. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
This policy will be in effect until further notice and will be reevaluated on a weekly basis. During this time, no CCIW, season passes, or complimentary tickets will be accepted.
Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s Volleyball
- Each member of the visiting team travel party and home team roster/staff, will be provided an entry list of six individuals. For student-athletes, the first four will be admitted for free and the other two will have to pay admission to be in compliance with NCAA rules.
- All IWU faculty, staff, and students with valid university-issued ID, will be permitted to attend.
- By being included on the entry list, or permission to enter with ID, spectators agree to masking policies set forth by IWU, the CCIW, and the State of Illinois at all times in the facility.
- Based on spectator seating availability and roster sizes, track & field and swimming & diving will be permitted two guests per student-athlete.
- All IWU faculty, staff, and students with valid university-issued ID, will be permitted to attend.
- By being a guest, or permission to enter with ID, spectators agree to masking policies set forth by IWU, the CCIW, and the State of Illinois at all times in the facility.
- Masks are required for indoor venues, regardless of vaccination status.
- Masks are strongly encouraged outdoors when physical distancing cannot be maintained or when vaccination status of a large group is unknown. Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals should wear masks outdoors in crowded environments.
- Fans are required to wear a mask when utilizing all restrooms or gathering in indoor spaces.
- Physical distancing is encouraged in all settings – indoor and outdoor - regardless of vaccination status.
Spectators/parents may meet with student-athletes after an indoor contest once the visiting teams departs the indoor venue or after an outdoor contest when there is significant distance between the visiting team and home team.
Any fan removed from a venue for failure to follow the host institution's COVID protocols will be banned from all future CCIW competitions for the remainder of the academic year.
Concessions will be open for events. Purchased items can be consumed within the facility and fans should remain physically distanced while eating, using the lift and replace method. For events inside the Shirk Center, food should be consumed on the upper level of the arena or at the eating area near the concessions stand.
