The Illinois State track and field team completed the first day of competition at the Joe Walker Invitational on Friday night at Prefontaine Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi.
Due to forecasts of severe weather, the second day's activities will commence earlier at 9:00 a.m.
In the women's heptathlon, Senior Gracie Jessup is currently 11th with 2774 points, followed by Freshman Sydney Skarich in 17th with 2608 points. The heptathlon events will resume with the long jump beginning at 9:15 a.m.
In the men's 1500m, Junior Yusuf Baig achieved a top-10 time, finishing in 3:47.12, placing him 10th in Redbird history. Sophomore Grace Erb achieved eighth place in the women's 1500m with her time of 4:34.72.
Junior Enyinnaya Nwagwu Jr. won the men's 200m with a personal season-best of 21.11. Junior Lindsey Miller finished 11th in the women's 200m with a time of 24.57.
Astrid Van Breedam secured the win in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a 10:51.48 mark.
On the field side, Junior Rob Pulliam recorded a personal best in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.05m, earning fifth place. Freshman Victor Byaundaombe achieved eighth with his season-best jump of 6.90m.
In women's long jump, Senior Madison Saunders finished eighth with a 5.66m jump, while Sophomore Ava Lawless achieved a new season-best of 5.64m, placing ninth.
Sophomore Cole Stevens set a new personal record in the men's hammer throw with a 54.03m throw. For women, Sophomore Adison Scott secured an 11th place with her 46.85m throw.
Freshman Heath Hawkins posted his personal best in the pole vault at 4.78m. Junior Charles Cruse finished seventh by clearing 4.93m.
In women's javelin throw, Senior Kiley Sanders threw 39.74m to finish in fifth place. Sophomore Colleen Zeibert also finished fifth in the women's 800m with a time of 2:09.89.
Finally, Freshman Blake Oleson ran a time of 15:28.78.
