Heyworth Community Unit School District 4 Board of Education met Jan. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Members present

Phil Stielow, Kelli Rewerts, Terri Kopp (via internet), Russ Maas, Matt Troha, and Justin Johnsen

1. Opening of Meeting

1.1 Call to Order

President Johnsen called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in room #310, the Board meeting room in the District Office.

1.2 Roll Call

Present were Rewerts, Maas, Kopp, Stielow, Troha, and Johnsen. Member Carrie Bangert was absent. Superintendent Lisa Taylor, Technology Director Ryan Hahn, and Recording Secretary Dorothy Ahlenius were also present. At the start of the meeting, Josh Verbarg was in attendance.

1.3 Board Discussion Items

An update on Return to Learn was given by Superintendent Taylor.

1.4 Correspondence

A note of thanks to the administration and School Board was read from Sarah Andrews for the flowers and positive thoughts.

There were none.

3. New Business

3.1 Changes to Board Policy - Press Plus #108

This was considered the first reading of Press Plus Policy #108. Because of the many changes, Superintendent Taylor provided a written summary of all the changes. She talked about many of the topics that are being changed. These suggested changes will be discussed further at the next Personnel and Policy committee meeting.

Motion to adjourn to Closed Executive Session at 6:21 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body.

Motion by Kelli Rewerts, second by Phil Stielow.
