The McLean County Republican Party has issued the following press release:
The McLean County Republican Party is pleased with the strong field of Republican candidates who have filed for candidacy in the elections in McLean County.
For the McLean County Board, Republicans Adam Reeves and Catherine Metsker filed for District 1; Bill Friedrich, James Soeldner, and Tyler Bahan for District 2; George Wendt and Lyndsay Bloomfield for District 3; Jerry Klinker and Steve Harsh for District 4; Hannah Blumenshine and John D. McIntyre for District 5; Donald Crop and Geoff Tompkins for District 7; Gary Stevens and Vicki Schultz for District 8; Annette Fellows and Susan Schafer for District 9; and Chuck Erickson and William C. Holditch for District 10.
For the county-wide races, Kathy Michael filed for County Clerk, Matt Lane for County Sheriff, and Rebecca McNeil for County Treasurer.
Several other races that also include McLean County drew strong Republican candidates. In the 44th State Senate District, Sally J. Turner filed. Desi Anderson filed to run in the 46th State Senate District. Jason Barickman filed in the 53rd Senate District. For the State House of Representatives, Mary J. Burress, William E Hauter, and Joe Alexander filed for the 87th District; Dan Caulkins for the 88th District; James S. Fisher and Scott Preston for the 91st; Kyle Ham, Mike Kirkton, Dennis Tipsword, Jr., and Donald Ray Rients for the 105th District; and Thomas M. Bennett for the 106th District.
For the 11th Circuit Court, Carla Barnes filed for the Drazewski Vacancy and Don Knapp and Amy McFarland filed for the Lawrence Vacancy.
The McLean County GOP also garnered its largest number of precinct committeemen filing in recent history with 72. The 2022 election is of tremendous importance, and all the Republican candidates running will advance the party’s principles of safety, prosperity, and accountability. Of the Republicans running, McLean County GOP Chairwoman Connie Beard said, “It is exciting to see such a strong slate of candidates as we move into the election season. Giving voters a choice for public safety, prosperity for everyone and personal freedom is what we strive to do in the GOP.” The primary election will be held on June 28, 2022.
