Analysis: Prairie Central administrators rank 788th in state for average pay

Administrators in Prairie Central Community Unit School District 8 earn an average of $77,988 per year, ranking 788th out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a McLean County Times analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 0.6 percent higher than in 2016 and 17.4 percent lower than in 2011. District administrators make 29.9 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Prairie Central School District in Livingston County enrolled 1782 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 162 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
