The Illinois Wesleyan University men's track and field program announced its 2021-22 letterwinners and award winners, Thursday, June 2. Director of Track and Field Chris Schumacher and Head Men's Coach Todd Lowder awarded letters to 18 student-athletes, while four Titans garnered team awards.
Junior Keondre Schumacher (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) and senior Cole Paraday (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) were tabbed Co-MVP's, while freshman Luan Ademovski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Elk Grove Village) earned top newcomer distinction. Sophomore Sam Morris (Elgin, Ill.-Harvest Christian Academy) was named as the most improved athlete.
Schumacher won the 2022 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Champion in the 200 meters with a time of 22.22. The time marked the fourth-fastest time in IWU history. Additionally, the Bloomington, Ill. native paced the Green and White with his fourth-fastest time in school history in the 100 meter race with a time of 10.92. Both marks were earned at the CCIW Outdoor Championships, May 6-7.
Paraday saw success in the javelin throw as he shattered his previous personal-best mark with a mammoth heave of 56.67 meters which placed him second in the IWU record books. The Frankfort, Ill, native earned this mark at the Redbird Invite, April 1-2. Paraday took home the CCIW Outdoor Championship in the javelin throw with a distance of 53.45 meters.
Ademovski enjoyed his freshman campaign as he led the Titans in shot put and hammer throw. The Elk Grove Village, Ill. topped the shot put field five times during the 2022-23 campaign as he won five different events. En route to winning the Friday Night Tri event, Feb. 18, Ademovski earned a distance of 15.49 meters, good for sixth in IWU history.
Morris, who earned the most improved award, turned in the top time in the 400 outdoor meter time for the Green and White with a mark of 50.93 at the CCIW Outdoor Championships, May 6-7.
