Rep. Thomas Bennett (R-Watseka) recently attended the Oktoberfest celebration in Milford.
In a Facebook post, Bennett said, "Milford was celebrating Milford Octoberfest Saturday! Beautiful weather! Hope you had the chance to play some bingo, talk with vendors and have some family fun. Live music. Great food! Face painting. Thank you to all the organizers!"
It was the first Oktoberfest held in Milford, according to the event page on Facebook. Visitors were able to view items from local artisans, sample food and drinks, and have fun in the kids' play area.
Bennett has been busy visiting constituents across the state this summer and autumn. In September, he visited sites in Dwight "to see the construction of wetlands that will help improve the quality of water by removing nitrogen, phosphates and other substances,” Bennett wrote on Facebook.
Bennett recently called attention to a CBS Chicago story reporting that IDES failed to disclose details on misappropriated money. More than $1 million was given out fraudulently to individuals by IDES in May, Bennett said.
In a Facebook post, he said, "Records show Illinois Department of Employment Security lost $1.2 million in taxpayer money to fraudsters,"
