City of Fairbury City Council met Nov. 2.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Bruce Weber, Gerald Hoffman, James Tipton and Bill Schmidgall. Jon Kinate was absent.
3. Pledge of Allegiance
4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Hoselton, second by Tipton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:
A. Minutes from the October 19, 2022, council meeting
B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills
C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)
D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

F. Overtime Report

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:
➢ Deb Moran reminded everyone of the Monday, November 7th disaster drill at 5:30 pm at the fairgrounds.
➢ Rodney Chamness was wondering if anything can be done about the speed limit coming in west to town on Route 24.

→ Sewer – Brad Duncan, Superintendent reported
• The sewer department hosted officials from three municipalities who came with their engineers to tour the new sewer plant

• The police dept updated the graphics on their window with funds from the Randy Meister memorial fund

B. Motion by Schmidgall, second by Hoselton to approve an estimate from Layne Christensen Company for work on Well #3 for the water plant. Motion carried 7-0. YES Norris Endres Hoselton Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
C. Motion by Weber, second by Hoselton to give approval to the Chief for future expenditures up to $15,000 to outfit new squad vehicle for Police Department. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
D. Motion by Tipton, second by Hoffman to approve revision of charges for 35-gallon trash carts to $1.50 a month. Motion carried 7-0. YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Weber Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall
