Village of Gridley Village Board met Oct. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Gridley was held at the Village Hall at 7:00 p.m. President Benedict opened with a word of prayer.  

President Benedict called the meeting to order and directed the Clerk to call roll, and upon roll call, the following  Trustees answered present: Michael Finck, Susan Laiming, Keri Hany, Jay Kiefer and Mick Finck. Quorum  present. Employees Mark Peterson and Jen Hany were present. 

Jeff asked if there were any corrections or additions to the September meeting minutes. There were none. Keri made a motion to approve the minutes and Michael seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Laiming yea, Hany-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried. 

Board reviewed the “Bills received by Clerk.” There were no additions. Michael made a motion to approve the  bills and Susan seconded the motion. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Laiming-yea, Hany-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick  Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried. 

Board reviewed the Treasurer’s Report. After discussion, Mick made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Keri seconded. All present answered in favor.  

Jeff reported to the board that Kyle Cobbley submitted his written resignation to the Clerk effective September 1,  2022. Jeff asked the approval of the board to appoint Richard Martin to fulfill Kyle’s term. All board members  were in favor. Richard will be seated at the November board meeting. 

Jeff advised the board that a local business has filed a Petition with the McLean County Board of Review  requesting an assessment change of more than $100,000.00. The village attorney recommends John L. Pratt to  represent the village for intervention. After discussion, Keri made a motion to hire John L. Pratt on a time and  material basis to represent the village for intervention on the Petition for Assessment Change. Jay seconded. Roll  call: Michael Finck-yea, Laiming-yea, Hany-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the  affirmative. Motion carried. 

Michael presented a draft levy for the trustees to review. There was very little change from last year. The tax levy  ordinance will be on the agenda for November. 

Jeff presented the annual water tower inspection from Corrpro at a cost of $835.00. Michael made a motion to  approve the contract. Mick seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Laiming-yea, Hany-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick  Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried. 

Jeff spoke with Farnsworth Group regarding the investigation of our storm sewer on Market Street. The  recommendation is to hire Hoerr Construction to jet and camera Market from Second to Seventh. After discussion,  Susan made a motion hire Hoerr Construction on a time and material basis to jet and camera Market Street. Keri  seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Laiming-yea, Hany-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted  in the affirmative. Motion carried. 

Jeff presented a quote from F & W Lawncare to seed and follow up with lawn treatment for the village easement at  303 E. Gridley Rd. The quote is $1,575 for seeding and 3 treatments at $120 each treatment for a total of $1,935.  After discussion, Michael made a motion to approve the quote. Susan seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea,  Laiming-yea, Hany-yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried.

The trustees discussed trick or treat hours and decided they will be Monday, October 31 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

Mick presented a quote from Todd Witzig to remove a tree and stump at 315 E. Seventh St. for a total of $1,150.00. Mick made a motion to accept Todd’s quote. Keri seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Laiming-yea, Hany yea, Kiefer-yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried. 

Mick made a motion to adjourn. Keri seconded. Roll call: Michael Finck-yea, Laiming-yea, Hany-yea, Kiefer yea, Mick Finck-yea. All present voted in the affirmative. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
