Town of Chatsworth Board of Trustee met June 13.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Official proceedings of the Board of Trustee’s, Town of Chatsworth, held in the Town council room at 7:00PM

Roll call showed the following present: Trustees Nelson, Bell, Schroen, and Harn. Also, present: President Runyon, Clerk Meyer, Chief Cavanagh, Superintendent Harn and Mogged. Absent: Trustee Price, Trustee Cavanagh, Treasurer Dassow, and Attorney Coleman.

A motion by Trustee Nelson and seconded by Trustee Bell to approve the agenda. Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yeas

A motion by Trustee Nelson and seconded by Trustee Harn to approve the minutes from the previous regular board meeting. Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yeas

Correspondence/Public Issues

Harlan Weivoda addressed the board for approximately 20 mins regarding his rental properties in town. He would like to see one meter installed for all five of his rental units (4 apartments, as well as the old hardware store). He stated that he didn’t want to pay rent on five meters, he didn’t like the fluctuation in the bills/water usage, and doesn’t think all of the renters should pay the garbage fee. He also reported he was losing money on his rental property and couldn’t sell because the property values are down.

A motion by Trustee Nelson and seconded by Trustee Bell to approve a one-time 50% water forgiveness for James Kuntz’s property at 317 E Oak. Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yeas

Police Department Reported

Chief Cavanagh reported Officer Dean finishing up with his FTO program, provided the Board of Trustees with a monthly report, and tagged vehicles in violation.

Old Business

New Business

A motion by Trustee Nelson and seconded by Trustee Bell to approve a new working phone system with Independent Telephone Service in the amount of $4,070. Board of Trustee vote: 4

A motion by Trustee Harn and seconded by Trustee Nelson to sell the skid steer track for $900. Board of Trustee vote: 4

President Runyon reported that the water main project has been approved and we are number five on the list for funding, hoping to start the project this fall at the earliest.

Trustee Harn reported needing to replace the Ford F-150 after it overheated once again, leaving Superintendent Mogged stranded in Edwardsville. Would like to have another truck on the next agenda.

Trustee Schroen reported speaking with Clerk Meyer and getting flyers for the Town clean up posted. Also reported speaking with Superintendent Harn about helping with the clean-up, at the sewer plant.

Trustee Bell reported needing to get the Town cleaned up especially alley ways. Inquired about Alleys and Town easements for emergency vehicles to access.

Trustee Nelson thanked the Superintendents for their hard work on taking care of the enormous amount of pot holes that were in town. He also reported wanting to change the minutes from the previous regular board meeting to state that, “the Citizens advisory board will give back what they don’t use of the Town’s $10,000 donation.

Clerk Meyer reported having CIMCO classes on the 15th and 16th. Also reported the Superintendents have been busy and they need more part time help.

Superintendent Mogged reported taking his waste water exam after his classes. Informed the Board of Trustees about the F-150 not starting when he was in Edwardsville. Also reported filling several pot holes in town.

Superintendent Harn reported needing a new truck before somebody burns to death in our current F-150, had to replace the back tires on the backhoe, and been busy filling all the pot holes in town. Also reported the EPA will be here in July for inspections.

A motion by Trustee Harn and seconded by Trustee Schroen to enter executive session, Personnel – Section 2 © (1) at 7:50 PM. Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yeas

A motion by Trustee Nelson and seconded by Trustee Bell to exit executive session, Personnel – Section 2 © (1) at 7:55 PM. Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yeas

Public Input

A motion by Trustee Bell and seconded by Trustee Harn to pay the bills. Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yeas

A motion by Trustee Bell and seconded by Trustee Nelson to adjourn the meeting at 8:01PM. Board of Trustee vote: 4 Yeas
