CORAL SPRINGS, Texas – The Illinois State women's golf team has secured the 20th-best team grade point average (3.815) in NCAA Division I for the 2023-24 academic year, following a notable season of academic and athletic achievements. This announcement comes after five golfers were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars List and the program's first First Team Academic All-American.
The team's inclusion in the top-25 list marks its second consecutive appearance and sixth overall since the 2004-05 academic year. Last season, Illinois State ranked 10th on this list. The team previously earned top-25 honors in 2019 (18th), 2017 (10th), 2016 (2nd), and 2009 (22nd).
During the season, Illinois State set school records for scoring average (297.4), total individual rounds at or under par (35), and achieved three individual medalist honors, the second-most in program history. Jinyoung Yun set single-season records for total rounds at or under par (14) and season scoring average (72.563). The squad advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the second time in three seasons.
Yun was named MVC Golfer of the Year for her performance during the season, while Schrock received recognition as MVC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Yun, Schrock, and Avalon Woodward each earned All-MVC honors and CSC Academic All-District accolades.
