The Illinois State women's tennis team has been recognized on the 2024 Division I Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team list. Additionally, five Redbird student-athletes were named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced by the organization on Monday.
In 2024, a total of 1,573 Division I women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 255 women's tennis programs received the All-Academic Team distinction. The Illinois State honorees include Silvia Pomarolli, Nevena Kolarevic, Othilia Brodin, Zoe Limparis, and Tijana Zlatanovic.
The Redbirds achieved a spring team grade point average of 3.69. Four players posted a perfect 4.0 GPA, and all eight student-athletes on the roster made the ISU honor roll. Pomarolli was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, becoming the third Redbird to receive this honor. She was joined on the 2024 MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team by Zlatanovic and Kolarevic.
To be honored as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, students must have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. To qualify as an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team GPA of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), with all varsity letter winners factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
