The Illinois State men's golf team has earned its second academic honor from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) in as many weeks, securing the Presidents Special Recognition honors.
A total of 59 NCAA Division I schools have received this recognition, which signifies a team grade point average of 3.5 or better.
Last week, five Redbird men's golfers – TJ Barger, Alex McCulla, Will Troy, Felix van Dijk, and Parker Wisdom – were awarded GCAA Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors.
The Redbirds concluded the 2023-24 season with school records in scoring average (285.2) and total rounds by individuals at or under par (96). The team achieved six of the 11 lowest 54-hole tournament scores in school history, including a school-record 832 at the Border Olympics. They also tied the school individual round record with a score of 273 at the same event.
