NORMAL, Ill. – Following their second trip to the NCAA Regionals in three years, the Illinois State women's golf team has announced its 2024-25 schedule. The season will commence at home on September 8-9 with the Redbird Invitational and conclude on April 13-15 at the MVC Championship.
The Redbird Invitational marks the 14th consecutive season opener for ISU at their home tournament, where they have previously won in 2010, 2011, and 2014. Last season, the Redbirds set a school record for individual tournament score (866) and tied the record for a single round (283). Jinyoung Yun set both individual tournament (204) and individual round scores (67).
Two weekends later, ISU will travel to Columbia, Missouri, for the Johnie Imes Invitational. This will be their sixth consecutive fall appearance at this event. Last year, they tied for eighth place; their best finish in recent years was fifth place in 2021.
On October 7-8, ISU will compete for the first time at the Loyola Parkinson Family Invitational in Libertyville, Illinois. The fall season concludes on October 20-22 in Boulder City, Nevada. At this venue last year, ISU broke their team school record with a three-round score of 857.
The spring season begins with two new tournaments: Sea Best Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Florida on January 27-18 and Columbia Classic in Melbourne, Florida on February 8-9.
ISU returns to Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational from February 21-23 in Arizona. Last year they tied for second place here with one of their top historical scores.
After a break, ISU competes again at Red Rocks Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona University from March 2-3. This is their seventh straight appearance; their best finish was fifth place in 2021.
The team’s first appearance at More Than Golf Invitational is scheduled for March 28-30 in Aiken, South Carolina.
Before heading into MVC Championship play on April 13-15 at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Illinois—where they aim to defend last year's title—the Redbirds will participate in Colonel Classic from April 7-8 in Richmond, Kentucky.
Last season was among ISU's best historically with records including stroke average (297.4), total rounds under par (35), and several low tournament scores achieved by individuals like Jinyoung Yun who scored under par multiple times throughout the year.
