Illinois State volleyball has been selected fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) preseason poll, and junior leftside Aida Shadewald has been named preseason All-MVC. The announcement was made by the conference office on Wednesday following a poll of the MVC's 12 head coaches.
Shadewald, who was named First-Team All-MVC in 2023, has played in all 60 matches over her two seasons with the Redbirds. Her 384 kills in 2023 rank as the 11th-most in school history for a sophomore in a single season. She also led the program with 36 aces, which is the 12th-most by a sophomore in program history for a single season.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Shadewald finished in the top-10 for both points per set and kills per set in the MVC during the 2023 season. She was also named to the 2023 MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team for her academic success.

Illinois State is scheduled for an exhibition at Eastern Illinois on August 24 before opening the season at home versus Central Michigan on August 30.
