Illinois Wesleyan cross country achieves top finishes at Gil Dodds Invitational

The Illinois Wesleyan University cross country teams concluded their September races at the Gil Dodds Invitational, held at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Illinois. This location will also host the 2024 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships in November.

Senior Nick Fisch from Woodridge, Illinois, and senior Annalese Chudy from Libertyville, Illinois, both achieved top-10 finishes for IWU. In the men's eight-kilometer race, Fisch finished 11th overall and eighth among collegiate competitors with a time of 25:59.4. Freshman Jack Thomas improved his time by 20 seconds to finish in 27:04.0, placing him 56th overall. Junior Zack Daniel completed IWU's top-three men with a time of 27:35.00.

In the women's six-kilometer race, Chudy secured fourth place with a time of 22:29.3 and was the highest-finishing runner representing CCIW. Freshman Maddie Morgan finished as IWU's second-best female runner in 28th place out of 221 competitors with a time of 24:10.2.

IWU's women earned fourth place out of 19 teams with a total score of 135 points while DePauw University took first place with 37 points. The men's team placed eighth out of 18 teams with UW-Platteville leading at 61 points.

IWU will now take a two-week break before competing at the DIII Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Indiana on October 4.
