Illinois State Athletics has announced the upcoming upgrade of the Mounier Golf Training Center at Weibring Golf Course. The new facility, named the Jim and Carole Mounier Golf Performance Lab, is set to open in September.
Jim and Carole Mounier expressed their pride in supporting the golf teams. "We are so proud of the accomplishments of the men's and women's golf teams and coaches, on and off the golf course," they said. "It has been a privilege to contribute to their success."
The lab will feature four hitting bays with heaters for year-round use. Men's golf head coach Ray Kralis stated, "The addition of the Jim & Carole Mounier Golf Performance Lab is another game-changer for Redbird Golf as it will take our practice and training opportunities to another level."
The facility will include simulator screens powered by Foresight software, GC Quad launch monitors, video capabilities, and GASP force plates. Women's golf head coach Jackie Szymoniak praised the contribution from Jim and Carole Mounier: "Jim and Carole Mounier have once again raised the bar for Redbird Golf through the addition of the Mounier Golf Performance Lab."
Located within a 27-acre private park, the existing center already offers target greens, bunkers, fairway lanes, various grasses, multiple tees, and a short-game area with USGA greens.
Kralis highlighted that "the Lab will also extend our developmental opportunities in October and November." He added that with these facilities, Redbird golfers have access to some of the best on-campus resources in the country.
