Continuing its series of home games, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team is set to host Carthage College on Saturday, October 5. This match marks the team's first in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) for this season. The game will take place at Neis Field with a scheduled kickoff at 3:30 p.m., following a men's soccer game that begins at 1 p.m.
The event coincides with IWU's homecoming weekend and includes a celebration of the 30th anniversary of women's soccer at the university. The festivities will honor the 1994 team during both the Titan football game at Tucci Stadium and again during halftime of the women's soccer match.
The Titans aim to recover from their recent 6-2 defeat against Hope College on September 25. In that match, senior captain Tegan Timerman and sophomore Sophie Lampert scored goals for IWU, while junior captain Bree Cordray provided an assist. Freshman Ella Randall achieved a career-high with 11 saves.
Illinois Wesleyan holds a record of 2-6-1 as they enter conference play, trailing behind teams like Millikin, Augustana, Carroll, and Wheaton who have already secured wins in their CCIW openers. Carthage approaches Saturday's match with a record of 4-2-3 after a recent loss to Millikin by one goal. Millikin currently leads the league standings.
Historically, Illinois Wesleyan has maintained an advantage over Carthage with a series record of 20-9-5. Their last encounter ended in a draw on September 23, 2023, where Timerman scored the equalizing goal.
Saturday's women's soccer match can be followed via live stream or live stats available through IWU's sports website.
