After beginning their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) campaign last Saturday, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team is preparing to face Wheaton College on Wednesday night. The match will kick off at 7 p.m. at Neis Field.
The Titans are seeking their first CCIW victory following a 2-0 loss to Carthage College on October 5, which leaves their season record at 2-7-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Freshman Grace Kiewiet from Leawood, Kansas, returned as goalkeeper last Saturday, making six saves against the Firebirds. Despite her recent absence due to injury, Kiewiet ranks fourth in the conference with a .772 save percentage and has accumulated 44 saves this season.
The Green and White also marked the 30th anniversary of women's soccer at IWU with a ceremony honoring the 1994 team during halftime of both the soccer game and the Titan football game.
Wheaton arrives in Bloomington holding a record of 4-6-1 overall and stands second in league standings with a CCIW record of 1-0-1. They recently drew with North Park University 1-1 during their homecoming weekend on October 5.
Historically, IWU trails Wheaton in their series with a record of 6 wins, 32 losses, and five draws. Four out of the last five encounters have been played at Wheaton's venue. Their most recent matchup resulted in a narrow defeat for IWU, with Wheaton winning 2-1 on September 30, 2023.
