Facing the top-ranked Washington University in St. Louis, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team was defeated 4-0 on Tuesday evening. This result leaves IWU with a record of 1-5, while WashU continues its unbeaten run, advancing to 7-0.

The Bears took an early lead with a goal in the second minute and extended their advantage when Ally Hackett scored with a header at the 15-minute mark. A foul drawn by IWU's Taylor Haun provided an opportunity for Vanessa Gray to attempt a free kick in the 26th minute, but her shot missed the target.

WashU added another goal just before halftime, leaving IWU trailing 3-0 at the break. The Bears secured their final goal in the 49th minute, making it 4-0. Despite facing significant pressure, IWU's defense held firm for the remainder of the match.

IWU's freshmen goalkeepers Grace Kiewiet and Ella Randall faced a total of 22 shots. Kiewiet played for 82 minutes and made four saves, while Randall contributed one save during her eight minutes on the field.

Looking ahead, IWU will travel to Monmouth College for a match on Saturday, September 21st, followed by hosting Dominican University on Sunday, September 22nd at Neis Field.
