The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team faced a challenging start to their season, falling 2-0 against Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. With eight new players in the starting lineup, the Titans struggled to keep up with the Storm.

Simpson scored their first goal 18 minutes into the match. Despite this early setback, the Titans' defense held strong for the remainder of the first half, entering halftime trailing by just one goal.

In a critical moment during the second half, junior captain Bree Cordray demonstrated her defensive skills by intercepting a one-on-one opportunity for Simpson. However, in the 78th minute, Simpson's Ally Hoffa managed to score from long range, extending their lead to 2-0.

Senior captain Tegan Timerman attempted to assist freshman Liza Wiley in scoring for Illinois Wesleyan, but Wiley's header was blocked by Simpson's goalkeeper.

Freshman Grace Kiewiet made her debut as goalkeeper for Illinois Wesleyan and played all 90 minutes. She faced 22 shots and made five saves throughout the match.

Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will host Simpson College on Sunday, September 1st at Neis Field. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m., and fans can follow along through live stats and streaming available on iwusports.com.
