Sophomore Charles Cruse set a new school record in the pole vault as the Redbirds concluded their participation at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Cruse achieved a mark of 5.27 meters (17-3.5), placing him second in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The men's team saw additional achievements with senior Amiri Buchanan finishing 21st in the hammer throw with a distance of 56.30 meters (184-8). The distance medley squad secured fourth place, completing their race in 9:50.69, while the 4x400m relay team claimed third place with a time of 3:08.10, marking it as the fourth fastest time in program history. Sophomore Dewyane Johnson finished fifth in the 110m hurdles, setting a personal best and achieving the fourth best time in school history at 13.87 seconds.
On the women's side, the shuttle hurdles relay team set a school record with a time of 55.72 seconds. The women's 4x100m relay team finished fourth with a time of 45.21 seconds, and their distance medley relay squad completed their race in 11:47.98 to finish eleventh. Senior Morgan Wrublik placed fourteenth in the hammer throw with a toss of 53.56 meters (175-9), while junior Olivia Birge achieved eleventh place in javelin with a mark of 36.86 meters (120-11).
Looking ahead, the Redbirds are scheduled to compete at the Badger Challenge hosted by the University of Wisconsin on May 3.
