Illinois State University has appointed Jackie Szymoniak as the new head coach for its women's golf team. The announcement was made by Dr. Jeri Beggs, the university's Director of Athletics.

Szymoniak expressed her enthusiasm for the role, stating, "It's an honor to be the next women's head golf coach at Illinois State University." She thanked Dr. Jeri Beggs, Paul Kabbes, and the search committee for their trust in her leadership abilities. Szymoniak highlighted the team's recent successes, including three Missouri Valley Conference Championship victories in four years and academic achievements.

Before joining Illinois State, Szymoniak spent 13 years with the University of Illinois in various roles. Her most recent position was Chief Operating Officer for ICON Collective, Inc., where she worked on charitable opportunities and networking initiatives. She also served as Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Assistant Athletic Director for Golf Operations at Illinois.

Dr. Jeri Beggs commented on Szymoniak's appointment: "We are excited to have Jackie lead our women's golf program and continue its recent success." Beggs emphasized Szymoniak's extensive experience and holistic approach to mentoring student-athletes.

Szymoniak's coaching career includes a stint as an assistant coach with the Illinois Women's Golf team from 2011-2013 and Director of Men's Golf Operations from 2013-2022. She also played professionally on the Duramed Futures Tour before coaching at Georgia State University.

The new head coach praised Illinois State's facilities, which include upcoming additions like the Mounier Golf Performance Lab and other training centers. "This program has been afforded incredible on-campus golf facilities," she said.

Paul Kabbes, Deputy Director of Athletics, expressed confidence in Szymoniak's ability to lead: "We are thrilled to have Jackie join the Redbird family." He noted that during their search they looked for someone with high character who would care deeply about student-athletes both academically and athletically.
