Illinois State University has announced the addition of Caden Boser to its men's basketball team for the 2024-25 season. Head coach Ryan Pedon expressed enthusiasm about Boser's potential contributions to the team, highlighting his "size, toughness, shooting and skill" as valuable assets.
Boser, standing at 6-foot-8, is transferring from Valdosta State and brings with him one season of eligibility. Over the past two seasons at Valdosta State, he has made an impressive 106 three-pointers with a shooting percentage of 42%. Last season alone, he averaged 12.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
"We are very excited to welcome Caden Boser to our Redbird family," said Pedon. "His ability to shoot the ball at his size really stood out to us as we studied his game."
Before joining Valdosta State, Boser played for UMKC where he earned Summit League Academic Honor Roll honors in both his sophomore and freshman years. At UMKC, he demonstrated his capabilities by averaging 11.8 minutes per game in his sophomore year and scoring a season-high of 14 points against Western Illinois.
Boser's high school career was marked by strong performances at Eau Claire Memorial High School in Wisconsin. There, he averaged over 20 points per game during both his junior and senior years.
Joining Boser as new additions to the Redbirds are guards Boden Skunberg and Landon Wolf along with freshmen Cade Norris and Jack Daugherty.
