EAST LANSING, Mich. – Jinyoung Yun, a graduate student from Illinois State, achieved a significant milestone at the 2024 NCAA East Lansing Regional by recording a program-low NCAA Regional round of 69. This performance placed her in a tie for 32nd overall.
Yun was among only five golfers to score under 70 in the second round. Her achievement surpassed the previous Illinois State record for an NCAA Regional single-round score of 71, set by Stacey Miller in 2009 at the Ohio State-hosted event.
Southern California maintained its lead after two rounds with a total score of 570. Other teams ahead of Illinois State include Northwestern (572), Pepperdine (573), Michigan State (574), Florida (576), Denver (579), Kentucky (580), Oklahoma State (580), Augusta (591), Indiana (595), and Oakland (597).
The Redbirds are scheduled to begin their final round on Wednesday morning at Forest Akers West Golf Course near Michigan State's campus.
Yun's impressive day began with three birdies and six pars on the front nine, putting her three shots under par at the turn. She reached four shots under par during the back nine before finishing with a three-under 69.
Ali Schrock completed her second round with a score of 76, tying for 38th place. She recorded two birdies and eleven pars and is currently four shots over par after two rounds.
Avalon Woodward and Michaela Kverkova finished their rounds with scores of 78 and 79, respectively, placing them in the 60th and 61st positions. Dani Grace Schrock participated as an alternate in the second round, scoring an 82 in her first collegiate NCAA Regional appearance.
