Illinois State University's baseball team wrapped up their 2024 regular season with a decisive 8-1 victory over Belmont at Duffy Bass Field. This win brings Illinois State's overall record to 28-25 and their Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) record to 16-11.
The standout performance came from redshirt junior Judah Morris, who went 2-for-4 with six RBIs. Morris contributed significantly to the scoreboard, starting with a two-run home run in the first inning and later hitting a grand slam in the seventh inning, which solidified Illinois State's lead.
Belmont managed to score in the sixth inning with a solo home run, but it wasn't enough as they concluded their season with a 25-30 overall record and a 12-15 MVC record.
Other notable performances included sophomore Daniel Pacella's home run and an RBI triple by sophomore Shai Robinson, both contributing to the Redbirds' scoring in the sixth inning. Junior pitcher Carter Monke also played a crucial role by delivering eight innings on the mound and recording four strikeouts.
Morris' grand slam marked the first for Illinois State since March when Noah Rabin achieved the feat against UA-Pine Bluff. The Redbirds are now set to participate in their fourth MVC Tournament under head coach Steve Holm, taking place in Evansville, Indiana from May 22-27.
