Illinois State's Amiri Buchanan participated in the men's shot put finals at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Representing both Illinois State and the Missouri Valley Conference, Buchanan delivered a series of throws on Wednesday night.
His initial throw reached 15.91 meters (52-02.50), followed by an improved second attempt of 17.35 meters (56-11.75). Buchanan concluded his performance with a final throw measuring 17.93 meters (58-10), securing him the 21st position overall as he completed his career with the Redbirds.
Meanwhile, fellow Illinois State athlete Mattison Plummer is set to compete in the women's 3000m steeplechase on Thursday evening during the first day of women's events at the National Championships.
